Xylene

Xylene is a colourless and flammable liquid with three isomers of great industrial value. Paraxylene, an isomer of xylene, also called p-xylene, is essential in manufacturing PET plastic bottles and polyester fibre, used as a chemical feedstock and raw material in large-scale synthesis of various polymers, including the production of terephthalic acid for polyesters.
